What does a nutrition coaching session entail?
Before our first session, I will send you a couple short intake forms to complete in order to get more information on your background, current habits, and goals. The initial 60 minute consult will include a more thorough nutrition assessment as well as education on topics of your choosing and that relate to your goals. We will also begin to set some small, manageable goals to work on until the next appointment. In the follow-up sessions, we will discuss how things went with the previous session’s goals, what went well, what didn’t go well, what changes we can make, as well as build upon our initial goals. I will answer any questions that came up in the process, strategize with you to make your goals manageable and realistic, and support you in your change process.
Which package option should I choose?
I provide several package options so clients can choose what best fits their needs. Like any coaching relationship, change takes time and clients that work with me for longer typically have more success. It takes time to determine which changes a client is ready and willing to make, how to successfully make those changes, and navigating the ups and downs of behavioral change. The longer we work together, the more topics we will be able to cover and the more changes we will be able to make. However, if you are looking for help with a short-term, specific goal or unsure what nutrition coaching entails, a shorter package option can be a great starting point as we can expand and add on sessions as needed.
Where do we meet for our sessions?
I offer a variety of locations in the Nashville, TN area for meeting. I also offer the option of virtual appointments, which can be done via phone, which is a great option for busy on-the-go clients who may not be able to get away for 30-60+ minutes for a session.
Do you provide a meal plan?
I have found most clients have more success when we focus on small, specific changes. Sometimes a meal plan can feel overwhelming to someone even if it is customized to their habits and food preferences. For clients with a specific goal such as an athlete who is needing to gain 5 lbs. of lean mass in a specific amount of time, I will provide a meal plan. The way I do meal plans is based on macronutrients (carbs, protein, fats) and focuses more on servings of each food group needed per day. This allows the client to choose foods from each food group that they like or have on hand, rather than me suggesting specific foods that may not be available to them.
Do you promote a certain type of “diet” such as Paleo, Keto, etc.?
The short answer is no. The long answer is I believe that all foods can fit into a healthy, balanced way of eating. Any “diet” whether promoted as a diet or not, if it involves strict guidelines or food rules, will likely not be sustainable long-term. I do not believe there is any one food or food group that is bad for us or that is causing all our health problems. I help clients to understand what the food groups are, what foods are in each food group, what appropriate portion sizes look like, what those foods are doing for us, what nutrients they provide, etc. If you are interested in trying a certain type of diet, or you are already following a diet such as plant-based or gluten-free, I can help you do so safely and realistically as long as there are no medical reasons that diet is not appropriate for you.
Do you provide other services such as grocery store tours, grocery shopping lists, recipes, etc.?
Yes! All sessions are tailored to the individual needs of a client. I like to tell clients I am a toolbox and we will work together to assess which tools will be most helpful for you. If you feel overwhelmed by grocery shopping, I am happy to accompany you to the grocery store and/or provide grocery shopping lists. If you are looking for quick, easy, and balanced recipes, I have many tried-and-true recipes I can provide for you to try based on your food preferences. Our sessions together are for you and we will work together to collaboratively make the best plan of action for your lifestyle, schedule, preferences, and goals.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, if you are unable to pay the full amount up front, we can work together to set up a payment plan that works for you.
